Here we have my Quicksilver rib and Yamaha 2 stroke outboard for sale. I have had the rib for about 9 years I used it as a tender on my boat. The rib has a repair patch in one of the tubes this was done before I purchased the rib and I have never had any problems with it. It has a slatted floor, Both tubes hold air for months it is very quick to inflate or pack away. The boat comes with a pump, removable seat and a set of oars and even a pack of repair patches. As you can see it is very clean for its age and if you do your research you will find it is one of the best makes you can buy. Very strong materials are used in construction of these ribs.The outboard is a Yamaha Malta 2.2 HP 2001 model I purchased the engine from new in 2003 it’s a 2 stroke engine that starts first time all the time. The engine can be seen running if you wish. The front engine cover catch is missing I have made a temporary repair but new catches are on eBay for a few quid if your fussy. This is big heavy RIB, with a deep-V and powerful engine, good for 35 knots irrespective of load. A great safe family boat or a powerful workhorse. We used the RIB to support our sailing boat out of Hamble between 2007 and 2010 - she was great for ferrying our crew of 12 from Hamble to Cowes. We’ve also had good fun with ringos and water-skis, or nipping down the coast for lunch.

Location: Currently lying on the dry-stack in Hamble Yacht Services, Hamble, Hampshire.

Trailer: Also comes with a four-wheel road trailer (not photographed), which is currently sitting in a barn in Derbyshire. This would be available to collect from Derbyshire or Hamble.

Reason For Selling: No longer have sailing boat and family home is in Derbyshire, so boat gets limited use.

History

The RIB used to be the personal RIB of the owner of Solent RIB Charter in Lymington. He told us the boat was 2001-built as a superyacht tender, which is certainly in line with the original specification of the boat. We bought the boat from him in 2007 and it has been stored in Hamble since that date.

Documentation

The boat does not have full documentation, which we believe was stolen from my car in London in 2009 along with a lot of my sailing kit. I’m told this is not uncommon with a lot of RIBs. We have manuals for a lot of the equipment still. We can provide the new owner with a Bill of Sale from us, and a letter stating that VAT has been paid on the boat to the best of our knowledge. There is only the chance that the VAT status of the boat would be contested if it was taken abroad. We also have service bills from the last few years.

Condition

The RIB is fundamentally in sound condition, but having not been used regularly in two years is looking a bit tired and will require some maintenance to get back looking good and fully functioning – this is sold as seen. I went to visit it last weekend and started it, drove it down the river – all good. I also made a list of the things I would want to fix if I was going to start using it again: 

The engine start with the key is temperamental, but can always be started by jumping it (very easy to access/do)There is fiberglass damage around one of the bars from the bow postThe two deck bilge pumps stopped working while I was there – assuming it’s a fuse for two to go at once (the engine bilges both still work)One rope rail attachment has fallen off – easy fix with glueDigital compass not

Honda Honwave T40- AE2 Inflatable RIB boat

This is my Honda Honwave T40- AE2. It is a semi-rigid inflatable. The deck is aluminium and the tubes are PVC with an inflatable keel.  This is the largest boat in the Honda inflatable range.

The dimensions are:

Overall length 3.95m

Engine capacity

It can take an engine of up to 30hp (max weight 90kg). I have used it with a Honda 20hp with very good performance. With a crew of two divers and their equipment   – (equivalent to two more people) the boat will plane easily reaching a speed of 28kmh on a calm sea.

Launching

It is light enough to be launched with out a trailer just using the dinghy wheels. I have launched it single handed down a slip and with two people across a beach. So it is very flexible and I have taken to places where I could not have launched a larger conventional RIB. I have also used a folding launch trolley which makes recovery easier on steeper slips.

Transport and storage

I have transported it both in the back of an estate car and in a camping trailer. So it is more economical in this respect than a hard hulled glass fibre rib for both transport and launch. It folds up making storage in a garage very easy.

Fun

I would highly recommend this as first boat or for those looking for economical boating – if there is such a thing.  We have enjoyed using this boat enormously and the reason for sale is that we are getting a bigger boat as we enjoyed using this one so much and now need the space. You can see it here in action moored on Sarn Badrig  (- a reef in Cardigan bay) last summer. The engine is not included in this sale.

Condition and wear

We have used it for diving which has caused some wear which I have detailed carefully below and in the pictures. Please ask me if you are uncertain about any details or would simply like more information. It would also make an ideal fishing boat. These boats retail at £1000 – so the advantage to the buyer of this boat is that they will not have to bear the depreciation of wear and tear.

1 – 4.The boat is patched in four places. I have circled these in red on the photo. These are all air and water tight. The photos of the boat inflated in my garden were taken on January 29th. The boat repairs very easily and quickly should you also damage it.

5. The legs of the launch wheels have rubbed through the PVC over the transom. This does not leak as it is simply where the fabric PVC is glued over the bottom of the transom.

6. One of the centre panels has series of dents in it as one year I bent it slightly and had to perform some emergency adjustments in Penzance harbour car park.

7. The attachment of the eye on the bow is beginning to tear but will hold fast for good while yet.  This was caused by us pulling the boat whilst it was over laden  for a considerable distance along a track down to a slipway – not something I would advise. It has not worsened since.

8. One of the metal strips for the fuel tank strap has come lose.

General

The seat is chipped and scuffed from having dive tanks strapped against it.

The foot pump has chip out of it.

The pressure gauge has cracked face and the locking pins have snapped off. It is still very usable so I did not replace it.

The launch wheels are included note that the axle pins have become detached. They are perfectly usable like this. I have also included the drop nose pins that  I used to secure the legs in place as opposed to the bolts these wheels are supplied with. These are far easier to use.

Includes repair kit. This is not the original Honda one.

Includes original handbook.

Includes storage bags – these are both quite worn and a handle has become detached on one of these.

I am listing this boat for a friend 
who does not have an E Bay account.

This boat has been in the same, 
Birmingham, family since new. I am informed that it has only been used twice;  
the last time about eight years ago, it has been dry stored ever since.  
This is plausible, you cannot get any further from the sea than Birmingham, and 
they are busy professional people.

It’s condition tends to confirm it’s history; I know nothing about boats but to 
my untrained eye it appears to be in nearly mint condition.

The boat was inflated and left to see if any air leaks were present; I then photographed it 
three weeks later (see photos below).

The tubes have held air pressure; there 
does not appear to be any leaks 
or tears; the boat has never been punctured or patched (the included Zodiac repair kit appears 
unused).

The wooden floor and transom appear 
to be in mint condition with only slight marks where an outboard has been attached.
